How to Have a Hallmark Worthy Christmas Tree

Hi friends, as you know, I worked on a Hallmark movie called A Glenbrooke Christmas as a set decorator. During this time I have decorated over 16 Christmas trees for the Hallmark movie. Today, I am going to share some tips with you on how you can also have a Hallmark worthy Christmas tree in your home. Tip #1: Lots of Lights! There is no such thing as too many lights. One way you can wrap the tree is to add the lights vertically instead of horizontally. This makes it easier to take off if a string burns out. It also adds more lights to the tree. Of course, this way can also take more strands of string lights. Tip #2: Skip the Garland on the Tree I'm not sure if this is an artistic choice or my boss's choice but garland is hard for us to do quickly, falls off easily when moving trees around, and when the tree is in the background with Hallmark's famous bokeh effect it looks like weird stripes. I have seen a couple movies with the garland, but not many, and normally they are trees that are in focus. Tip #3: Pick the Picks & Sprays Adding picks and sprays adds instant glam. Whether it is the fern, fan, berries, or pinecone it doesn't matter; they look wonderful all the same. This helps fill up your tree while bringing sparkle and dimension. We had tons of these on A Glenbrooke Christmas. Tip #4: Poinsettias Poinsettias are a great way to fills in the holes or gaps in your tree. We used them everywhere on A Glenbrooke Christmas. You can get poinsettias from just about anywhere from the dollar store to Christmas Forever, they are super easy to find and decorate with.
